BASIC DOUGH
BASIC DINNER ROLL
INGREDIENTS:
4 4Ύ cups all purpose flour
2 tablespoon sugar
2 packages active dry yeast
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
½ cup water
Ό cup butter
1 egg (at room temperature)
Additional melted butter
For fillings:
Mozzarella cheese
Sweet ham
Bacon
PROCEDURE:
1. Combine 1 ½ cups flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a mixing bowl.
2. Heat milk, water, and butter until very warm (120˚ to 130˚ F) .
3. Add liquid and egg to flour mixture, beat until smooth.
4. Stir in enough remaining flour to make soft, sticky dough.
5. Turn dough onto a floured surface; continue to work in flour until dough can be kneaded. Knead until smooth and elastic, but still soft (about 5 mins.)
6. Cover dough with bowl or pan. Let rest foe 20 mins.
7. Shape dough as desired. Cover and let rise until double in size (about 15 mins.)
8. Bake at 425 ̊F about 12-15 mins. Cool on wire rack.
9. Brush with butter if desired.
For CINNAMON ROLLS add 2 more tablespoons of sugar in the recipe.
CINNAMON ROLLS:
Roll dough into a 13x9 inch rectangle.
Spread with 2 tablespoons softened butter.
Sprinkle with mixture of ½ cup brown sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon.
Roll dough tightly like jellyroll
Cut dough into 1 inch slices
Bake at 375˚F 15-20 mins.
Yield: 2 ½ Dozen Rolls
